| dc.description.abstract | This project describes the automation process for the Municipal Libraries of the central cantan of San Jose with the purpose of proposing an lntegrated Library Management System that pretends to salve the need of having the technological tool to carry out this process. A diagnose was made with the intent to describe the library processes and the current state of the products and services of the municipal libraries. lt also includes a description of the different resources the libraries have, such as human, financial and technical infrastructure, in arder to determine the functional requirements for the lntegrated System proposed so we can identify the technical, economical and operational feasibility to implement the appropriate automation program for the Municipal Libraries System. This is a descriptive investigation. The population included on the research include employees currently working at the Municipal libraries and personnel from the lnformation Technology department of Municipalidad de San Jose. For data collection, it was decided to use a questionnaire. lt was applied to the Municipal Libraries personnel on the areas of Circulation and book loans, Libraries administrators and personnel from the catalog department. lnformation Technology personnel was also interviewed. Additionally, l ran a market study to collect data regarding available software for libraries automation and evaluate them to propase the best to be applied to the lntegrated Management System for Libraries. In conclusion and according to the results of the diagnosis, the proposal is to implement the ALEPH 500 software system. This is a Cloud based system that complies with the aspects considered on this investigation, such as human, financial and technical infrastructure requirements. According to the above, the proposed implementation of ALEPH 500 will allow: On line public catalog for user consultation. Automate the circulation and loan service of bibliographic materials.
