Inglés: Determine whether there is a relationship between the presence of TMD symptoms and the use/practice of wind instruments or other determinants. Methodology: The research is a pilot case-control study. The instrumentalist group consisted of 76 persons and the control group of 77 persons for a total sample of 153 participants. The DC/TMD triage and symptom questionnaire were administered. Data were analysed using a logistic regression model. The variables pain, headache, joint noises, closed and open jaw lock- ing were studied and compared with sex, age and the number of years of practice with the instrument. Results: Of the total sample, 31 % of patients were symptomatic. When looking at the data separately, the instrumentalists group had 36 % of symptomatic people versus 26 % of the control group. 32 % of the wind instrument players had closed jaw locking. Regarding pain, 62% of instrumentalists versus 42 % of the control group. Conclusion: A greater presence of possible TMD was found for both the instrumentalist group and the control group, being higher in the group of female instrumentalists. Furthermore, the greater the number of years playing the musical instrument, the greater the probability of suf- fering a possible TMD was observed.
